Zablokujte nechtěný restart Windows - po update

Ve Windows XP Professional proveďte následující postup:

1. V nabídce Start zvolte příkaz Spustit (nebo použijte klávesovou zkratku Win + R), do pole Otevřít napište gpedit.msc a stiskněte klávesu Enter. Tím spustíte editor Zásady skupiny
2. V levém podokně v části Místní počítač – zásady rozbalte položku Konfigurace počítače.
3. Rozbalte položku Šablony pro správu, přejděte do větve Součásti systému Windows a klepněte na položku Windows Update.

1. Otevřete okno Spustit (Win + R), napište regedit (registry editor) a stiskněte klávesu Enter.
2. Najděte klíč HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU.
3. Poklepejte na položku NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers a změňte hodnotu DWORD na 1.

How to automatically log in to Windows XP Professional - Direct Bootup Without Typing Password

1. At a command prompt, type "controluserpasswords2" and press Enter to open the Windows 2000-style User Accounts application.
2. On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To Use This Computer check box and then click OK.
3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the user name and password for the account you want to be logged on each time you start your computer

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/win_xp_passwords.htm

http://wiki.ljackson.us/

If you set a computer for auto logon, anyone who can physically obtain access to the computer can gain access to all of the computer contents, including any network or networks it is connected to. In addition, if you enable autologon, the password is stored in the registry in plaintext. The specific registry key that stores this value is remotely readable by the Authenticated Users group.
As a result, this setting is only appropriate for cases where the computer is physically secured, and steps have been taken to ensure that untrusted users cannot remotely access the registry.
1. Start/Run/Regedit, and then locate the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
2. Using your account name and password, double-click the DefaultUserName entry, type your user name, and then click
OK.
3. Double-click the DefaultPassword entry, type your password, and then click OK.

NOTE: The DefaultPassword value may not exist. If it does not:

a. Click Add Value on the Edit menu.
b. In the Value Name box, type DefaultPassword, and then click REG_SZ for the Data Type
c. Type your password in the String box, and then save your changes.

Also, if no DefaultPassword string is specified, Windows automatically changes the value of the AutoAdminLogon key
from 1 (true) to 0 (false), thus disabling the AutoAdminLogon feature.

4. Click Add Value on the Edit menu, enter AutoAdminLogon in the Value Name box, and then click REG_SZ for the Data
Type.
5. Type "1" (without the quotation marks) in the String box, and then save your changes.
6. Quit Regedit.
7. Click Start, click Shutdown, and then click OK to turn off your computer.
8. Restart your computer and Windows. You are now able to log on automatically.

NOTE: To bypass the AutoAdminLogon process, and to log on as a different user, hold down the SHIFT key after you log off or after Windows restarts.

Note that this procedure only applies to the first logon. To enforce this setting for subsequent logoffs, the administrator must set the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Value: ForceAutoLogon
Type: REG_SZ
Data: 1

Create your own user-defined services Windows NT/2000/XP/2003

http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=197

The Windows NT/2000 Resource Kit provides two utilities that allow you to create a Windows user-defined service for Windows applications and some 16-bit applications (but not for batch files).

Whats needed for Windows NT/2000:
Instrsrv.exe installs and removes system services from Windows NT/2000
Srvany.exe allows any Windows application to run as a service.
You can download both files here srvany.zip

This zip includes three files. The two you need srvany.exe and instsrv.exe to install the services and also srvany.wri which documents everything you can do with the program.
Note: Make sure the Services Manager is closed while running the DOS commands.

You will need to put these files in a directory called reskit At a MS-DOS command prompt(Start | Run | "cmd.exe"), type the following command:
\reskit\INSTSRV.EXE "Service Name" \reskit\SRVANY.EXE
This creates the service in the Services manager and the registry keys to setup what program to run.

Next open regedit.exe Start | run | regedit.exe
WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

Next navigate to this registry key.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\service name

From the Edit menu, click Add Key and name it Parameters
Next from the Edit menu, click Add Value and type this information.
Value Name: Application
Data Type : REG_SZ
String : \

Now you can start your service from the Service Manager

With this same program you can remove the service also. Just run this command from command prompt.
\reskit\INSTSRV.EXE "Service Name" REMOVE
